Sugar Grove is a smaller village in western Kane County, just southwest of Aurora, that's shifted from rural to suburban over the last couple of decades. The housing runs mostly to newer single-family subdivisions, often on larger lots, with some original farmhouses and rural properties still scattered around the edges. It's a spread-out, quieter town, home to Waubonsee Community College, with plenty of open space still in and around it.
For buyers, Sugar Grove tends to mean newer construction and more room, at a step back from the busier towns to the east. I-88 runs along the north side, which makes a drive toward Aurora, Naperville, or the western job centers straightforward. There's no Metra station in town, so a downtown-Chicago commuter drives to Aurora to catch the BNSF. For buyers who want space and newer homes without going fully rural, Sugar Grove is worth a look.
