Orland Park is a larger, more built-out village — mostly in Cook County, with a small piece in Will. Compared with the more rural towns nearby, it's the one with the amenities. Orland Square and the surrounding retail corridor, restaurants, and services are all here, and the housing stock is deep and varied. You'll find townhomes and condos, established single-family neighborhoods, and newer construction, across a wide span of price points.
For buyers, that variety is the practical draw. There's usually more on the market here, in more shapes and prices, than in the smaller towns around it. A first-time buyer looking at a townhome and a move-up buyer looking at a larger single-family home are often shopping the same village at the same time.
The commuter rail is the other draw. Orland Park sits on the Metra SouthWest Service line, so a downtown-Chicago commute is genuinely workable, which isn't true everywhere out here. Add quick access to I-80 and La Grange Road, and Orland Park tends to be the pick for buyers who want suburban space without giving up convenience or a reasonable commute.
