Oak Lawn is a denser, close-in suburb in southwest Cook County, just south of Midway Airport. The housing here skews classic Chicago-area: brick bungalows, Georgians, ranches, and Cape Cods on tidy lots, with condos and townhomes mixed in. It's an established, walkable, mid-sized suburb, and it runs more affordable than a lot of the towns further out.
For buyers, the draw is usually the combination of location and value. Oak Lawn is close to the city, near Midway and the CTA Orange Line's terminus there, on a Metra line, and served well by expressways, at a price point below the outer suburbs. Advocate Christ Medical Center is a major employer in town. Homes here tend to be older, so a careful inspection matters, but the classic brick construction and the location keep the town steadily in demand.
